Personality & Traits
| General Overview | While his short stature has earned him some ridicule over his career, Lt. Robins has managed to turn it to an advantage, crawling into spaces where other engineers can't reach. He is also attempting to make others laugh and enjoys having a good time. While he can gain knowledge from a database, he prefers a hands-on approach to learning. |
|
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Lt. Robins is hardworking and diligent, although he can be known to drop smaller details in favor of getting the "big picture" completed. Will work day and night on a project if it interests him, but can be unmotivated to do unpleasant or "boring" tasks. His talent for drama can be useful in the way that it allows the voice of an otherwise small person to be heard over the din of machinery, but at the same time often leaves him wishing to be the center of attention, as much as he tries to suppress it. Seems to manage to button down most of these traits with authority figures, although he can become flustered if the superior doesn't give him all the facts or uses terminology he is not familiar with. While a competent engineer, his small size does mean he is a poor hand-to-hand fighter. |
|
| Ambitions | Hopes to one day be the captain of a Sovereign, Prometheus, or Odyssey class ship. | |
| Hobbies & Interests | Theater and drama, holonovels, fencing, painting, rocking climbing. Has a thing for chocolate |
| Personal History | Lt. Robins was born in Edmonton, Canada, in 2387. A childhood filled with harsh winters has made him comfortable with the cold, but not so much the heat. His father had served as an enlisted in Starfleet for three years, retiring to become a weather systems manager by the time Robins was born. His mother was a baker. Watching his father work on large machines inspired Robins to pursue an engineering path. Weather management was not so much in demand on Earth, so in 2400 at the age of 13, Robins and his family moved to the Federation colony world of Calradia, in the Delta Volantis cluster. His father was assigned to the cold northern continent in an attempt to make it more habitable for humans. Robins was right at home in the cold weather, and assisted as needed. As part of living on a Federation colony world, Robins met and interacted with a variety of alien species, befriending many with his charm and humor. Tales of great engineers who had made their names in Starfleet, such as LaForge and Scott, lead him to apply to Starfleet academy in 2405 in engineering. He graduated in 2409 and was assigned to the USS Val-d'Or, a Centaur frigate. The Val-d'Or herself was assigned to patrol the space around Vega colony... |

| Service Record | USS Val-d'Or, Centaur class frigate, 2409. -Destroyed during the Battle of Vega colony. Then-Ensign Robins served as a junior engineering officer under Lieutenant Commander Thrian, an Andorian. During the battle the Val-d'Or was crippled, and Robins was assigned to get the engines back onlines, squeezing though jeffries tubes clogged with debris. While he managed to get the engines back online, the ship's shields had failed and the vessel broke apart under Borg fire, leaving Robins stranded and facing certain death, until the USS Luna under the command of Captain Hannah Taggart scanned the wreckage and beamed Robins out. USS Macintosh, Fleet Escort, 2409. After the Battle of Vega colony Captain Taggart was transferred from the USS Luna to the USS Macintosh, and with her many of the former crew of the Val-d'Or. Robins and Thiran were reunited aboard the Macintosh, Thiran having survived the Val-d'Or's destruction and having been placed as the Macintosh's chief engineer. For the next two years the Macintosh served on multiple fronts, combating Klingons and Romulans. Robins was promoted to Lieutenant and put in the position of Assistant Engineering Officer, often having run of the Macintosh's engineering department when Thiran was on an away team. During this team he was often in charge of both combat repair and regular maintenance. In 2411 the Macintosh was assigned to the Breen front in the Orellius sector, giving Robins first hand experience with combating energy drain attacks and the effects of polaron weaponry. USS Kilimanjaro, Odyessy Class, 2411. Captain Taggart was promoted to Rear Admiral in 2411, and assigned an Odyessy class cruiser and a small fleet. She took most of her crew from the Macintosh, including Robins, and transferred them to the Kilimanjaro, her new command. During this time Robins became acquainted with MACO-style engines, shields, and deflectors, as that is what was equipped on the Kilimanjaro. The posting did not last long, as the Kilimanjaro suffered a collision with Earth Space Dock mere weeks after being assigned to Admiral Taggart. Robins performed several life-saving repairs during the crisis, managing to control the venting of several decks and sections so that they had time to evacuate. Admiral Taggart was re-assigned to Internal Affairs, and her bridge crew was assigned to be in charge of running her "Internal Affairs Cutter" instead of serving on the Kilimanjaro. USS Peregrine, Akira Class, 2411-2412 Robins did not see much further combat during these years, as the Peregrine was instead mostly used as a "glorified yacht," moving Admiral Taggart from assignment to assignment. The posting did give Robins a chance to become more familiar with MACO engines, as the Peregrine was equipped with a set to ensure that it could reach any Internal Affairs trouble zones quickly. It was also a good chance for Robins to study tactical systems while they were not under fire. He continued in his posting as Assistant Engineer under Thiran. USS North Sun, Excelsior class, 2412 At Admiral Quinn's behest, Robins was transferred out of the crew of the Peregrine and placed into the crew of the USS North Sun. |
